Sound in Film
Today in media we learnt about sound in movies. We learnt about diegetic- Anything that the characters can here and non diegetic- what they cant hear. Synchronous- what they hear and see, asynchronous- what they can hear but cannot see, sound bridge- where sound is used to merge scenes, ambient sound- surrounding sounds used to create atmosphere. Soundscape. Creates an environment and a voiceover where someone is talking over. Foley artists are also very key parts of sound in the filming industry. Foley artists basically make all the sounds that we hear in our movies so that the sound is the best possible quality that it could be. Although we think we are hearing a sound its actually something else making the sound. For example the sound of a horse galloping is actually made by Foley artists just simply smashing coconuts together.
