Risk Assessment- Movie Opening

Risk Assessment
The risk assessment below basically outlines everything that might put the crew and equipment in danger whilst filming. It is good to have a risk assessment because we then know how to prevent the potential dangers and make sure our equipment and ourselves are not at risk at all.

Spoken Storyboard- Movie Opening

Spoken Storyboard
Below is our spoken storyboard for the movie opening that my group and i are working on. The storyboard is a basic outline for what needs to happen and in what order. This shows what happens in each scene. It also shows where we will be shooting the scene (where the scene is meant to be) and also how long each shot is. This is very helpful when we are actually filming as we have a target and task to complete and reach. This makes the directors job a lot easier because they will know what needs to be done where they have to be for each shot of the opening.

Props Resarch- Movie Opening

Props List
This is the props research that we have conducted to get a rough idea of everything that we need but also how much money everything we need will cost.
The first thing we need to consider is costume. The main costume that we need is a male army uniform. We need this in the first part of the opening as the main character is injured on the floor and blood begins to trickle from his body.

This takes us to another prop we will need and that is fake blood. We need this for the blood to show the soldier is injured.

Another prop that we will need is a brochure from the army recruitment center. This is to show that our character is interested in joining the army.
Another prop that we need is a punching bag. This is for when our main character is trying to get fit enough to join the army.

Sound in Film- Prisoners Opening

Prisoners Film Opening

The first thing I would like to say is that this film actually looks very good I definitely want to continue watching it. Sound plays a major factor in making this opening so good and intriguing. There is actually quite a lot going on this opening scene. The use of synchronous and asynchronous is very evident throughout this opening scene. In terms of synchronous I think that the rain is also ambient as it does a really good job in setting the scene and introducing a tense atmosphere. I think that the volume of the rain is also very loud and is overpowering which helps in creating the tense atmosphere because at some point the rain is actually louder then the speech from the characters. The use of asynchronous sounds is very evident also as we can hear the police radio before he is even in the car which straight away shows the audience that he is a police officer of some kind. The music that is playing whilst the apparent main character is approaching the caravan shows that the genre is definitely some kind of thriller as it is doing a good job in making me feel almost nervous. The atmosphere that it mages to create is very clever in making the audience want to watch the rest of the film to see what happens.

Sound in Film

Sound in Film

Today in media we learnt about sound in movies. We learnt about diegetic- Anything that the characters can here and non diegetic- what they cant hear. Synchronous- what they hear and see, asynchronous- what they can hear but cannot see, sound bridge- where sound is used to merge scenes, ambient sound- surrounding sounds used to create atmosphere. Soundscape. Creates an environment and a voiceover where someone is talking over. Foley artists are also very key parts of sound in the filming industry. Foley artists basically make all the sounds that we hear in our movies so that the sound is the best possible quality that it could be. Although we think we are hearing a sound its actually something else making the sound. For example the sound of a horse galloping is actually made by Foley artists just simply smashing coconuts together.
