Prelim Task Script

Prelim Task Script

This is the script that I made for my prelim task. Although it wasn't followed expertly it was used as a basic outline for the characters to follow so they kind of knew what was supposed to be said at different times. The script was quite hard to make because of the genre that we used. Our genre was comedy so I had to make sure that it was actually funny which I did struggle a bit with. Overall I think that because people laughed during the viewing I think I did an okay job!

Prelim Task Risk Assessment

Prelim Task Risk Assessment

To actually start our filiming for our preliminary task, we had to write up a risk assessment. This just basically outlines all the risks that could endanger us or our equipment during the production stage.

Prelim Task Storyboard

Prelim Task Storyboard

This the story board for how our prelim task is going to go. This gives a clear outline as to what we need to shoot and what shots we are going to be using and when.

Blog Reflection 1

My Blog Reflection 1

I think that as I am writing this, my blog is in the best place it has been in altogether. At the start of the media studies course and the start of making my blog, I found it extremely hard. I was constantly missing deadlines an I was falling more and more behind as the weeks went on. I started to doubt myself and actually thought about dropping media. I think the sole reason for my blog being in bad shape was the amount of effort I was putting into it, there was clear room for improvement. Now however I feel as tough I am trying harder and im getting a lot more blog posts on to my blog. If I had continued to work in the same manner id be lucky to have 5 blog posts. But now im actually enjoying media and look forward to getting more posts out there and improving my blog to the best of my ability.

Media Studies talk with Pete Fraser

Media Studies talk with Pete Fraser

Today at school all the media students obviously including myself had a talk from Pete Fraser the chief examiner of OCR. in our main assembly hall. The talk was very enjoyable and informative. We learnt about all the different aspects to film openings. We looked at some movie openings by the professionals in films such as Dawn of the Dead and Catch me if you Can. The two films are very different and you can see this from the openings.

He talked to us all about how to make a really good film opening and what we will actually be doing for our film opening task. He told us how to make sure that we are doing the right things and warned us off some easy mistakes we could make. Overall I though that the talk was extremely helpful in making sure that I make an effective film opening and that I can hit the top marks and not make stupid mistakes.

Film Pitch Task

Film Pitch Task

In media recently we were put into groups and we had to design a film and pitch it to the whole class. This is my groups PowerPoint and film pitch.

Evaluation
Overall I found working in a group a lot easier but there was some definite difficulties. For example we didn't all share the same ideas and not everyone worked to their full capabilities. I think that I was a guilty party o this and the next time we are doing group work I need to work harder or my teammates.

Representation

Representation
In media class recently we learnt about representation. Representation is the way in which people, events and ideas are presented to the audience. We can uses the acronym CAGES to help in looking at representation.

Class
Age
Gender
Ethnicity
Sexuality

The male gaze theory- Women are placed in the media for men's pleasure. One of the biggest offenders of this is the James Bond films.

This movie poster has a main hero which signifies that this film has a lot of action and could be a superhero movie. In terms of class, I would say it is for anyone. It is hard to specify what class would decide to watch a film like this. But in terms of age and gender it is a lot more clear cut. I would say it is for boys aged 7-18. I also think that the ethnicity and sexuality has no clear effect on whether someone would want to watch this movie based off of the poster.
